Since the last blog post there has been a host of great economic news for the United States, Texas, and the Houston Area. While the economic forecasters and Wall Street analysts predicted a loss of 8.3MM jobs there in fact was a job gain of 2.5MM in the month of May.  The unemployment rate is still very high but this is progress and we at Texas Restaurant Equipment will take it!  Hopefully the economy will continue to rise just like the crushing humidity and heat in a Houston summer and we all can celebrate with a margarita at one of the many fantastic Tex-Mex restaurants in this city.  Tex-Mex outings are pretty much central to my social life since I have two small children and they can go crazy and noone seems to care.

Today, June 4 2020, is the inaugural blog post for the Texas Restaurant Equipment Index along with general news that may impact the restaurant equipment industry in Texas and in particular Houston. We are going to keep it light and have fun while informing you about what is happening in our economy, both area and nationwide that might affect your business.  Texas Restaurant Equipment loves restaurants in general, and believes restaurant-going is the most cost effective way to safely enjoy life in the current COVID environment, especially compared to other forms of recreation such as movies or sporting events (although we love movies and sporting events).  We hope you find the blog informative and would love to hear your thoughts.
